I like this car so much. An AWD, 290 horsepower V6 sedan is a lovely thing.

The 200 is honestly a great car based on a proven platform. I have worked extensively on the 200 launch, and I would buy one if I had kids to haul around.

ALMOST anything. My parents had a Sebring as a rental once. Big piece of shit. Even the old 200 was an upgrade compared to those.

At least the Avenger is honest. It was Dodge/Chrysler saying: hey the interior sucks but you paid for a cheap econobox so what did you expect? The Sebring tried to be more upscale but it was just all one big lie.

That's true.

I honesty wouldn't call the Avenger's interior too far off from it's main domestic competitors at the time. Plus some of the options on offer were awesome and exclusive to them. Like a "fridge" in the dash and heated and cooled cup holders.

I went to a Buick/GMC/Cadillac dealer with a friend recently so he could look at used CTSs and new Sierras. Unfortunately I was too busy making sure he asked the right questions that I didn't get a chance to poke around in the new Cadillacs. I'm still upset abour that. An Opponaut works at thag particular dealership so I suppose I could always go back. I did sit in a Regal though and I want one even more than I already did.

I agree. Pre-recession Big Three made some truly awful cars (a few good ones). But those options are definitely cool, it's just too bad that none of the rental companies checked those option boxes, which is a shame because if the options were standard, people would have had slightly higher opinions on the effort Chrysler put into their cars.

The problem is that is the same price as a Charger R/T Plus AWD with 1,000 bucks in options. And you can have the Charger with red leather interior. At no extra cost. If it I had 36k jingling in my pocket and I was in a Chrysler dealership, I'd be ordering the Charger.

I work at the plant where these are built. I built the old 200 before along with the avenger. And I must say the new 200 is better at every price level than the outgoing model. But if you have any questions about the new or old cars feel free to ask me anything.

I have an opinion based question and another question

Do you think the face-lifted Avenger is as terrible as people say it is? Honestly, it never seemed too bad after Fiat worked out some kinks and gave it a new V6 heart.

Is the assembly process for the new 200 drastically different from how the old one was put together. I remember reading they dumped a bunch of cash into the assembly plant to improve the process and raise the quality.

I actually half way liked the face lifted avenger. The 3.6 is a very stout engine for the size of the car and could be had for very cheap if you bought them at the right time.

The manufacturing process for the new car in the general Assembly area is more or less the same things are just done in slightly different spots. Or a bit different order. The big money (damn near a billions bucks worth) was spent on the paint and body shops. That is where things are vastly different. The paint on these new cars is so much better than the paint on the old model its not even funny. Walk up to an old model and really look at it. You'll see orange peal. That was from the factory. These new cars are much much better. The paint is smoother and seems much deeper.

My girlfriend's mom has a bright red (Tori red?) 2009 Avenger R/T and looking at it I've noticed some orange peel and even paint runs on some panels. It almost looks like a bad custom job acutally. But you don't notice it until you look really close.

Just as long as you're okay with the V8 only coming with RWD. They dropped the V8 with AWD option.

You're not alone. A lot of people still like the current look over the internet pictures of the Charger. I have yet to see one in person. I really want to do though.
